On 5th and 6th of March 2018, the Food Security platform team organized a workshop at the ESRIN facilities of the European Space Agency (ESA) in Frascati, Italy bringing together its diverse agricultural user community. The workshop, titled “EO for Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture”, brought together stakeholders from the public sector including science and education, from the farming and insurance industry as well as from organizations providing EO services. On March 8, 2018 Hatfield Consultants led a user workshop titled “Supporting Sustainable Aquaculture Production from Space” at FAO in Rome, Italy. It brought together various stakeholders to discuss the use of high-performance cloud-computing systems that use satellite Earth Observation (EO) datasets to support sustainable aquaculture development. 27/06/2017 - The second FS-TEP international User Community Requirements Workshop in Rome was held during the SIGMA-Sen2Agri-JECAM Meeting at FAO headquarters. The FS-TEP User Community Requirements workshops are a first step to animate and involve the large agricultural EO user community, especially those stakeholders defined as pillars of the “Partnership for Growth and Sustainability” during the 2016 EO4Food Workshop in Frascati, Italy. 46 experts from both Africa and Europe convened to discuss the needs of the agriculture community and the potential services, products and functionality of the future Food Security Platform.

01/06/2017 - First regional User Community Requirements Workshop has been successfully accomplished. Eight German and international organizations had followed the invitation to convene at the BayWa AG headquarters in Munich, Germany to discuss the gaps and needs of enterprises, science and international organizations with regard to EO products and services for agricultural applications.
