“Supporting Sustainable Food Production from Space”

2018 Food Security Platform Workshop at ESA-ESRIN, Frascati (Italy)

During the Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture workshop at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, Italy in April 2016 the workshop participants formed the 'Partnership for Growth and Sustainability'. The Partnership formulated a number of recommendations and encouraged ESA to start implementing them in a new project to develop a Food Security Platform.

The project was kicked off in April 2017 and is now developing a tailored platform for the use of Earth Observation data in agriculture and aquaculture, the Food Security Platform.

The workshop will focus on the agriculture part of the Food Security Platform project, in particular demonstrating the first version of the Platform. Achievements and further services to be offered, as well as the conducted and planned service pilots in Europe and Africa, will be discussed.

When and where will the workshop take place?

The workshop will take place 5-6 March 2018 at ESRIN in Frascati, Italy (room Magellan).
